Thank you to Bill, Phillip, and Lavelle for sharing your passion for the GHC with all of us! ⭐⭐⭐ When you come here, everybody's invested in you, they know who you are.” Phillip adds, “All of us are a team. "Well, the name of the song in the show is, 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name.' That's what makes this clubhouse special. What makes the Greater Heights Clubhouse different from other clubhouses? “Have you heard of the TV series 'Cheers?' Bill asks. I've said this so many times, ‘disability does not mean inability,’ and it’s true.” So, when you say ‘I can't write,’ and then you see, ‘oh, I'm published,’ it's a real source of pride for people. “It gives people who believe that they can't do something tangible proof that they can. The GHC has tons of cool programming, including a monthly newsletter! “A lot of members have written articles for it, including Lavelle and Phillip,” Bill proudly states. “The Clubhouse helps us build strength and confidence.” “You can do so much in this clubhouse that you can also put on your resume,” Lavelle continues. The GHC provides a safe and supportive environment for adults living with mental illness to work on different life skills and better themselves in a nonclinical setting. “I’d describe the Clubhouse as a place where you can work to achieve your goals,” says Lavelle. “Members come and volunteer their time to work here to invest in their own recovery. “Everything that we do is done with a collaborative approach,” Bill explains. At the GHC, the line between “staff” and “member” is virtually non-existent. These benefits include improved outcomes for clients, improved management of critical incidents and other behaviour that interrupts service, and improved worker confidence, role satisfaction and morale.Meet Bill, Lavelle, and Phillip! All three are deeply involved with the BCS Greater Heights Clubhouse (GHC) Bill is a staff member and Phillip and Lavelle are members.
